Our Story

TheYogaShala was established in Goa by Mr. Avnish Mehta backed with the blessing and affiliation with world-famous Ashtanga Yogacharya Mr. Ramesh Shetty, Mysore Ashtanga Yogshala (with 30+ years of teaching experience). TheYogaShala aims to spread love for yoga and work together to build a widespread yoga community. Astanga Yoga is the Oldest Form of Yogic Practice. According to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, there exists an Eightfold Path practice that leads to self-awakening and empowerment. Ashtanga means "eight limbs or branches (components)" in Sanskrit. As the name implies, it outlines all 8 limbs of yoga and promotes both psychological and spiritual health.

Yoga Alliance

Mysore Ashtanga Yoga Shala has fulfilled all of the requirements of the Yoga Alliance RYS (USA) for the 200-hour credential and is a Certified Registered Yoga School. After completing our 200-hour Teacher Training Course, students will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teacher. With over 7,000 Registered Yoga Schools (RYS) and over 100,000 Registered Yoga Teachers, Yoga Alliance is the largest non-profit association representing the yoga community (RYT). We encourage and support the teaching of yoga that is of high quality, safe, accessible, and equitable.
